Job Description

Well established, award winning and highly respected specialist luxury tour operator are currently recruiting for a unique opportunity as both a Luxury Travel Consultant and an individual within a retail travel agency sales capacity that can develop longstanding business relationships within the retail travel agency sales network across Scotland. Your primary role with be to act as a Luxury Travel Consultant selling everything to North America and Canada with time spent visiting travel agents and attending trade events and networking to further promote this luxury travel brand – Offering an excellent basic salary plus both personal monthly commission and quarterly team bonus you’ll certainly be rewarded financially for your strong knowledge of North America & Canada. Working 5 days per week, Monday – Saturday (Saturdays around one a month with reduced hours of 9am – 4pm), 25 days holidays and all Bank Holidays off too!

 

What will I be doing as a Luxury Travel Consultant / Agency Sales Development Executive :-

 

  • You’ll be responsible creating detailed itineraries to exactly match your clients precise requirements both over the phone and via email.
  • You’ll be offering your clients strong product and destination knowledge selling anything to The States and Canada with possible add ons to other destinations.
  • You’ll be selling various holiday products from tailormade holidays to escorted tours, cruises, lodges, luxury, honeymoons, motorhomes, solo travel & self drive tours to name a few.
  • Source varied ground arrangements with overseas suppliers, ensuring your itinerary exactly meets the client’s requirements.
  • Developing new business relationships through the travel trade by visiting travel agents in Scotland and attending networking events or travel trade shows and events in and around Scotland to further promote the tour operating brand.
  • Liaising with agents and clients at various stages of the quotation process
  • Use various web-based systems to check live availability of products
  • Process bookings on our in-house system
  • Maintaining excellent customer service throughout

  • Home office based in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Paisley, East Kilbride, Dunfermline, Livingston, Perth, Cumbernauld or other main Scotland towns and cities.
  • Excellent basic salary dependant on transferable skills and experience.
  • Personal based monthly commission scheme alongside a quarterly based team bonus.
  • Working standard operational hours 5 days per week, Monday – Friday with approx. 1 x Saturday a month working slightly reduced hours of 9am – 4pm on a Saturday.
  • 25 days holiday, plus all bank holidays, circa 33 Days paid annual leave a year, which rises a day per year up to a max of 30 days plus Bank Holidays
  • Educational Trips to expand and broaden your product and destination knowledge.

 

What do I need to apply for the Luxury Travel Consultant / Agency Sales Development Executive role : -

 

  • Strong sales professional with the ability to work to sales and service targets having worked in a similar role for either a Tour Operator, an Online Travel Agent or as a Retail Travel Agent.
  • Excellent travel product and destination knowledge of North America ( USA / The States ) and Canada
  • Experience of selling any other luxury travel destinations such as Alaska, Caribbean, South Pacific, Indian Ocean, South Africa, Australia or New Zealand would be a distinct advantage.
  • Experience or capability of driving new business relationships through the travel trade by visiting travel agents in Scotland and any experience of attending networking events or travel trade shows and events would be a distinct advantage.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail are a must
  • You must be able to work well as part of a team
  • Knowledge of GDS system (preferably Amadeus) would be preferred
